Therapeutic Massage
The Therapeutic Massage Curriculum prepares graduates to work in direct client care settings to provide manipulation, methodical pressure, friction and kneading of the body for maintaining wellness or treating alterations in wellness throughout the lifespan.

^These costs are associated with the Therapeutic Massage Diploma. Students are eligible
for licensed work after completion of the diploma. We encourage students to continue
an additional year to attain their associates degree at additional costs.
In addition to tuition and books, students are responsible for extra costs for uniforms,
supplies, physical exam, immunizations,
insurance, and travel.

Our program is recognized by the NC Board of Massage and Bodywork and Southern Association of Colleges (SACS).
The North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy may deny a license to practice massage and bodywork therapy if an applicant has a criminal record or there is other evidence that indicates the applicant lacks good moral character.
Special Program Requirements
Students with a criminal conviction may not be eligible for a state license, which is required for employment. Each situation is evaluated on an individual basis by the NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy (919-546-0050 or admin@bmbt.org)
Admission Requirements
Admission to Sandhills Community College does not guarantee admission to this program. Qualified applicants will be placed until seats are filled, based on the date of submitting the Health Sciences program application (see below).-
College Application: Complete a SCC admissions application online.

Course Placement Requirements: Students must place into ENG 111 and place out of MAT 025.

Prerequisite Classes: Any needed developmental English and math classes based on placement. Completion of one Anatomy & Physiology course (BIO 094, BIO 163, BIO 165, or BIO 168) OR one Medical Terminology course (MED 120), with a grade of C or better verified by high school or college transcript.

GPA: All applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be considered for admission.

Health Sciences Application: Submit an online application by the deadline.
Application Deadlines
Early Consideration: Last Friday in January
Late Consideration: Until seats are filled or July 1
To apply in Ealry Consideration, all prerequisite courses must be completed with a C or better by the end of fall semester. For Late Consideration, students who will complete prerequisite courses in spring semester may apply. Students completing prerequisite courses in high school or at a college other than Sandhills Community College must provide an enrollment verification of spring semester courses to the Program Director prior to the Late Consideration deadline. Students completing prerequisites in summer will only be considered if seats are still available.
All qualified applicants must:
- Attend the Spring Therapeutic Massage orientation for early admission consideration.
- Complete the Admission Summary Sheet (which will be distributed at the Spring Orientation).
- Attend the Summer Therapeutic Massage orientation for regular admission.eceive an Acceptance Letter from the Program Coordinator.

Complete all required medical forms.

Obtain and submit documentation of your current AHA or American Red Cross CPR registration.

Register for fall semester MTH courses by July 1.
