Discovering Confidence and Direction at Sandhills
For Emma Motta, attending Sandhills Community College has been about more than just earning credits—it has been about discovering direction, building confidence, and exploring new opportunities.
Like many students beginning their college journey, Emma started without having every detail of her future mapped out. What she did know was that she wanted an environment where she could grow academically while figuring out the path that was right for her.
She found that opportunity at Sandhills.
“SCC has helped me grow and explore what I’m passionate about,” Emma shared.
During her time at the college, Emma discovered the value of a supportive learning environment. With small class sizes and approachable instructors, she was able to ask questions, build relationships with faculty, and gain confidence in her abilities.
Those experiences helped Emma see that college is about more than assignments and exams—it is also about discovering your strengths and building connections that support your goals.
You don’t have to have everything figured out - just take the first step and be open to where it can lead.
As she continued her studies, Emma began to see how her time at SCC was shaping her future. Each class and new experience helped her develop skills that will benefit her both professionally and personally.
Emma hopes her story encourages others who may feel uncertain about starting college.
“You don’t have to have everything figured out,” she said. “Just take the first step and be open to where it can lead.”
For Emma, that first step at Sandhills Community College has opened the door to growth, confidence, and new possibilities.
