The Workforce Development and Corporate Partnerships team at Sandhills Community College
is proud to announce a three-year training partnership with Pennsylvania Transformer
Technology (PTT), located in Raeford, North Carolina. This collaboration comes at
an exciting time as PTT is investing more than $100 million in expansion, bringing
new jobs and economic growth to the region.
“We are honored to partner on this three-year customized training project, valued
at more than $155,000,” said Carlos McCormick, Director Customized Training and Organizational Development at Sandhills
Community College. “With training already underway on site, this collaboration reflects
our commitment to providing high quality and responsive workforce development. We
are especially excited to play a role in supporting the growth and development of
Hoke County by helping employees strengthen their skills, advance their careers, and
contribute to the long-term success of PTT and the community.”
Through this partnership, current and new employees will participate in over 16 different types of training including leadership, lean manufacturing and blueprint
reading. These programs will help strengthen PTT’s workforce and support the company’s
long-term growth.
“It's an overdue deliverable to our employees and the fact that we can partner together
with Sandhills to give our employees all the tools they need to be successful as a
great benefit,” said Nicole Futrell, Human Resource Coordinator and Recruiter at PTT.
"The shift that we've had from just talking about the training to putting everything
into action, is supporting everything we’ve been talking about over the last few months.
You can just see the light bulbs going off. We are excited to provide this deliverable."
Sandhills Community College’s Workplace Learning team is also finalizing plans for
a new apprenticeship program with PTT. More details on this upcoming and impactful
collaboration will be forthcoming.
