Horticultural Gardens
Thank you for supporting the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens and the Landscape Gardening Program.
The Sandhills Horticultural Gardens are primarily supported by donations and gifts from garden visitors and the public. Your contribution allows us to continue the wonderful work necessary to manage the gardens for visitors and provide a variety of garden-related special events. The Gardens at the same time provide outstanding training grounds for our Landscape Gardening students. The garden staff, Landscape Gardening students and faculty work very hard to manage and maintain these thirty-two acres of Gardens and the natural environment of the Sandhills region of North Carolina for everyone to enjoy. Please consider donating today.
If you would like to send a donation via check, please mail to:
Sandhills Community College Foundation
3395 Airport Road
Pinehurst, NC 28374
Please specify in the memo where you would like your gift allocated.
This form is for donations only. This is not a Sandhills Horticultural Gardens Society membership. If you are interested in becoming a member, please find the membership form here.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Our Volunteers are an integral part of everything we do at the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens. Their support helps to keep the gardens maintained and looking beautiful as well as educating and informing our visitors. Whether it’s working with plants directly, greeting visitors, or guiding groups through the gardens, there are multiple ways to contribute your time and talent. You do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge as we will train you for any role and help you learn along the way.
Gardening – Get your “hands in the dirt” and help with daily gardening tasks like weeding, watering, planting, raking, etc. It all depends on the season! We are often caring for plants in the greenhouses as well, especially when students are on breaks. If you enjoy the manual labor and fresh air of being in the Gardens, this option is for you.
Greeter – Stay clean and dry and in a temperature-controlled environment as you greet visitors from the information booth in our Ball Garden Visitors Center. We will provide all the training and information you need to get them started on their visit and answer any questions they may have. If you like talking with people and sharing information, this option may be for you.
Docent – Learn the history of the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens and lead groups on private tours. We offer monthly seasonally-themed tours, requested private group tours, and seasonal pre-show tours in collaboration with BPAC. Docent manuals are provided to learn the facts and information, but each person makes it their own, based on the requests of the group and their personal interests. If you like teaching and leading and sharing some history, this option may be the right fit for you.
