Small Business Center at the Dedman Center for Business Leadership

Starting a business or ready to grow one?

The Sandhills Community College Small Business Center provides free counseling, training, resources and connections to help entrepreneurs and small business owners turn ideas into stronger businesses.
 

The NC Community College’s Small Business Center Network (SBCN) assists in starting an average of 700 businesses each year. Small Business Centers have an economic impact in 90% of NC counties annually, helping to create and retain nearly 3,800 jobs.


Seminars, Workshops & Certificates

The Small Business Center offers seminars, workshops and certificates targeted to the needs of small business owners and start-ups at no cost to participants. Our programs are funded by a grant from the NC Legislature.

Laura Kinsman

Director, Small Business Center


A Moore County native, Laura brings experience as a local business owner and former educator to her role as Small Business Center director. Her firsthand understanding of entrepreneurship and education helps guide the Center's work connecting local entrepreneurs and small business owners with practical guidance, training and resources.

Kenna Parks

Senior Business Advisor, Hoke County

Kenna brings more than a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, marketing and business development. An MBA graduate and owner of Glamo Society Bridal & Formal Wear in Raeford, she has launched and operated businesses in five states and brings firsthand experience in business planning, branding, customer development and growth.

Katrin Henderson

Senior Business Advisor, Moore County

A Moore County native, Katrin brings extensive experience in hospitality, retail management and small business ownership. She owned and operated a children's shop in Pinehurst for more than a decade and has worked closely with local business and economic development organizations, giving her firsthand knowledge of the opportunities and challenges facing local entrepreneurs.
