Students who are interested in a career in dentistry, law, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, or veterinary medicine are usually required or at least strongly encouraged to earn a bachelor’s degree before applying to one of these graduate or professional degree programs. Although public universities offer undergraduate degrees in religion, the study of Christian or Jewish theology or ministry takes place in undergraduate and graduate private colleges and universities that are often affiliated with a branch of Christianity or Judaism. Since the admission requirements vary among schools and universities, students who wish to earn a graduate school degree should consult a particular graduate school prior to or after entering a bachelor’s degree program.
