NCEdge Customized Training program, dedicated to strengthening businesses and industries
through tailored workforce solutions, is now offered at Sandhills Community College
(SCC) serving Moore and Hoke Counties. Whether it’s upskilling employees, implementing
new technology, or improving operational efficiency, NCEdge designs programs around
the specific needs of each organization with connections made by SCC.
Led by experienced instructors, these training courses ensure teams remain competitive
and best of all, they are offered, at little to no cost, to eligible companies. Leading
the efforts at SCC is Dr. Carlos McCormick, Director of Customized Training and Organizational
Development, who serves as a key resource for businesses and the college. McCormick,
a relatively new member of SCC and is eager to meet businesses in the community and
explore how customized training can help advance their programs.
Key components of the program include:
- Pre-employment training to prepare candidates for success from day one.
- Post-hire technical training to enhance skills and support ongoing growth.
- Strategic workforce consultation to align training with long-term business goals.
Together, these resources create meaningful training opportunities that not only benefit
companies but also strengthen communities across our region.
According to Betty Silver, Associate Vice President of NCEdge Customized Training,
"One of the reasons companies and industries continue to locate in North Carolina
is because of the NCEdge longstanding commitment to workforce development. With a
proud history of more than 60 years, NCEdge continues to adapt and expand to meet
the needs of today’s economy."
Silver highlighted several initiatives currently underway:
- New Strategic Plan: Forward-Thinking and Regionally Rooted

- Strengthening brand recognition across stakeholders, partners, and communities.
- Agile, Client-Centered Program Development
- Building flexibility and responsiveness into programs to quickly adapt to evolving client needs.

For Silver, the role is a deeply meaningful opportunity to give back to the state
of North Carolina while helping businesses and employees thrive. Her passion reflects
the mission of NCEdge: To deliver responsive, customized training solutions that strengthen
