On Wednesday, October 22, Sandhills Community College President Alexander “Sandy” Stewart had the pleasure of helping to host a delegation from Moldova to North Carolina.
This group included economic development leadership, as well as faculty and staff from the Technical University of Moldova. President Stewart also had the pleasure of hearing from Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler, his Chief of Staff Zane Hedgecock, and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall about how a partnership in North Carolina can be formed among government agencies and colleges. The delegates learned about the NC State Fair and attended as well.
Last year, Sandhills Community College hosted the group for dialog and tours of campus including its automotive program.
Formalized on April 22,1999 to support National Guard partnership initiatives, the partnership now includes the efforts of many more organizations and individuals such as private firms, civic organizations and non-profit agencies. The partnership is a bi-lateral association with planning committees in both North Carolina and the Republic of Moldova who work together in a cooperative effort to improve and enrich the lives of everyone it touches.
