Founded in 2009 by Thomas Mewherter, the company started with a simple goal: make the plumbing service experience better for customers. What began as a one-man operation has grown into a husband-and-wife team, with Thomas leading field operations and Stephanie Mewherter directing business operations. Together, they’ve built the company on reliability, trust, and doing the job the right way.

Today, Thomas Plumbing specializes in plumbing repair, drain cleaning, water filtration, and innovative solutions like trenchless pipe lining, a process that repairs sewer lines from the inside out without digging up property. It’s one of the only services of its kind offered in this region.

Interestingly, the company’s name came directly from the community itself. Early customers frequently recommended the business by simply telling friends and neighbors: “Just call Thomas.” The phrase stuck, and in 2021 the company officially rebranded to Thomas Plumbing.

But what truly sets them apart is their focus on people.

Thomas Plumbing is deeply rooted in the Sandhills. Thomas was born and raised in Hoke County, graduated from Hoke High, and is now raising his own family in the same community the business serves. The company regularly supports local youth sports teams, nonprofits, and community initiatives.

As the Sandhills continues to grow, Thomas Plumbing hopes to grow with it. The company plans to expand its trenchless pipe lining division, Prestige Pipe Lining, and continue investing in water filtration and plumbing innovation to better serve local homes and businesses.
