PetWise Professionals: Providing Trusted, At-Home Pet Care Across Moore County

For nearly nine years, PetWise Professionals has helped Moore County pet owners care for their animals where they are happiest - right at home.

Owner and “Pack Leader” Anna Vermeulen founded PetWise Professionals, officially Your Pet Care Connection LLC, in 2017. A Moore County native, lifelong animal enthusiast, and biology professional, Anna recognized a growing need for dependable, professional pet care within her community. “I’ve always had a heart for pets and wildlife,” Anna shared. “It’s my calling, and I’m beyond grateful to be following that calling here in Moore County, where I grew up.”

Anna launched the business with a simple but meaningful goal - to build a fulfilling career while providing local pets with high-quality, low-stress care. Her experience in the pet care industry helped shape a service model centered on maintaining each animal’s familiar environment, routines, and comfort. PetWise began as a one-person operation, but steady growth allowed Anna to hire her first employees in 2019. What started as “me” has since become “we,” with a team of trained PetWise Pros serving pets and their owners throughout Moore County.

More Than Pet Sitting

PetWise Professionals provides care for animals of all kinds, from dogs and cats to horses and hedgehogs. Services include weekday dog walking, travel pet care, grooming add-ons, and ongoing assistance for pet owners who need extra support caring for their animals. Its most popular weekday service is the 30-minute dog walk, which gives dogs a midday opportunity for exercise, enrichment, and a break in their normal routine. During rain or inclement weather, team members can shift to quick outdoor potty breaks and indoor playtime. Clients can also customize services by adding time, including additional pets, or requesting nail trims, baths, and brushing. PetWise is especially passionate about supporting senior pet owners and people recovering from surgery. The team helps ensure pets continue receiving dependable care while allowing their owners to remain with their beloved companions through every stage of life.

“One of our greatest joys is helping ensure pets’ needs are met while helping pet parents stay with their fur-family,” Anna said. PetWise hopes to build additional partnerships with local retirement communities and senior living organizations so it can support even more aging pet owners throughout the area.

PetWise Professionals believes the quality of its service begins with the quality and preparation of its employees. Team members are trained employees who are fully background checked, bonded and insured, and certified in pet CPR and safety. The company also invests in continuing education through monthly team meetings, online training, industry-specific podcasts and videos, safety certification renewals, professional summits, and other learning opportunities. PetWise maintains involvement with professional organizations, including the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and local business associations. This commitment to training reflects the company’s larger focus on ethical business practices, fair wages, dependable service, and exceptional care.

Growing the PetWise Pack

PetWise Professionals celebrated nine years in business on August 1, 2026, and the company is continuing to grow. It is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in joining its professional pet care team. PetWise offers paid training, flexible scheduling, company-provided bonding and insurance, and team backup when unexpected situations arise. Applicants must have reliable transportation, a smartphone, and the ability to pass state and federal background checks. The company is also beginning to explore software development opportunities that could benefit both the pet care industry and other service-based businesses.

Through every stage of its growth, PetWise Professionals has remained committed to the belief that pets are not only part of the family, but friends for life. For Anna and her team, professional pet care means helping animals thrive while giving their owners confidence that their companions are safe, comfortable, and loved.
