Teddy Bear Tea for Children

The Women of Weymouth and the Katharine L. Boyd Library at Sandhills Community College invite children and their parent or other adult to “Weymouth Teddy Bear Tea” on Sunday, December 9 from 3:30-5:50 p.m. at The Weymouth Center at 555 E. Connecticut in Southern Pines.

There will be stories and poems about teddy bears, Teddy Bear Bingo games, crafts, and the children will decorate a teddy bear cookie to enjoy along with other treats.

The cost is $15 per person and children are to be ages 4 and older. Tickets are limited. Reservation can be made with payment at

The SCC Boyd Library

Those who live or work in Moore or Hoke counties and are 18 or older may receive a Community Patron Library Card.

The Katharine L. Boyd Library provides comfortable, pleasant surroundings for study and leisure reading. Library materials are not only selected to support and supplement academic programs, but they are also chosen to stimulate reading as a leisure-time activity.

The collection includes more than 80,000 items and extensive periodical holdings which include subscriptions to local, state, and national newspapers. There is a large microfilm and microfiche collection which includes a complete run of the New York Times from its beginning in 1851.

There are computerized indices to newspaper and periodical articles such as NC LIVE and Opposing Viewpoints. The library’s collection of over 2,000 videotapes and DVDs contains instructional programs, feature films, documentaries, musicals, operas, plays, classic children’s films, and PBS programs.

The Boyd Library is open Monday-Thursday 7:45 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 7:45 am-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.
