Technology Classes to Begin at SCC in April

Person holding camera.Keep your tech skills up to date with help from these classes in April. Sandhills Community College Continuing Education Technology classes are a great way to have fun and make new friends while learning how to use computers and computer software.

Apple Macintosh Operating System

In “OS Catalina Level 1” students will explore, understand and control the operating system of the Apple Macintosh computer including numerous built-in applications, called apps. Students will learn to manage the filing system for organizing and finding computer-generated folders and files. A flash drive 8 GB or larger is required.

“OS Catalina Level 1” will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 1-May 13 from 10 a.m.-noon. The cost is $75.


Students will uncover how Elements 19 can help you create catalogs and albums, import and organize photos, and perform basic editing in “Photo Editing Using Photoshop Elements 19 for Beginners.” Students will learn how to use the Editor’s Quick and Guided modes. Time permitting, students will also learn the basics of using layers for combining and correcting photos and adding text and graphics. A flash drive 8GB or larger is recommended. The prerequisite for this class is a good working knowledge of computers, using a mouse or pen tablet, and file management.

“Photo Editing Using Photoshop Elements 19 for Beginners” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 28-June 4 from 6-8 p.m. The cost is $75.

Seats are still available for these classes. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Community College Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. Registration by phone at (910) 695-3980 or preregistration online at are also available accepting all major credit cards. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
