Student Art on Display at the Pinehurst Post Office

Art student Tya McAlister, Kim Jolly, and Lori Lorion in the Pinehurst Post Office.Students in Lori Lorion’s Sandhills Community College’s painting class contributed 24 works of art to enhance the Pinehurst Post Office. Before the pandemic, Lorion’s students began a large-scale painting project. Moving classes online in March didn’t stop the motivated group. They held online critiques and kept the project going even after the semester ended. Each student painted three works in oil with the theme of “The Universe,” which included traditional, universal, contemporary, and multicultural symbols. Postmaster Kim Jolly and her husband installed the works for this semi-permanent exhibit. Pictured from left to right is art student Tya McAlister, Kim Jolly, and Lori Lorion.
