Sandhills Community College Announces Fall Classes and New Skilled Trades Training in Hoke County

With the next eight-week fall session beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, Sandhills Community College is encouraging Hoke County residents to explore upcoming course offerings at the Hoke Center, 1110 East Central Avenue in Raeford, and the college's new Workforce Trades Building, 2550 Aberdeen Road, just west of Raeford.

Upcoming fall opportunities include:

  • Beginner Line Dancing: Oct. 14-Nov. 25, Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
  • Tax-Smart Retirement: Keeping More of What You've Earned: Oct. 6-20, three classes, Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
  • What Are Clinical Trials and Why Should I Care?: Monday, Oct. 5, 3-5 p.m. No cost.
  • Medical Math: Nov. 3-17, Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Notary Public Education: Thursday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Foundations to Mechanical Systems: Option 1: Oct. 12-May 12, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9:15 p.m.; or Option 2: Oct. 17-May 15, Saturdays from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Classes will be held at the new Workforce Trades Building.

SCC recently announced the opening of its new Workforce Trades Building to support the region's demand for skilled workers and provide hands-on training that can lead to immediate employment and long-term career opportunities. Training launched this fall with Small Engine Repair, with Foundations to Mechanical Systems soon to follow. Additional programs are planned to support advanced manufacturing and automation workforce needs.

An open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for later this fall, providing businesses and community members an opportunity to tour the new facility.
