Sandhills Community College to Host "Thinking About Working?" Benefits Counseling Event

Sandhills Community College will host a no cost, informational event titled "Thinking About Working? Let's Talk About Your Benefits!" on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will take place in the Clement Dining Hall, located within the Dempsey Student Center on the Pinehurst campus.

Designed for individuals wondering how employment may impact their disability benefits, the session offers a welcoming environment to ask questions, receive honest answers, and learn how professional Benefits Counseling can assist with making informed choices. Organizers emphasize that the gathering is built on a foundation of no pressure, no judgment, and no obligation—providing clear, straightforward guidance from professionals dedicated to helping attendees understand their options.

Topics covered during the session will include: What Benefits Counseling is (and what it isn't); How working may affect specific benefits; Common myths and the corresponding facts; Available resources to support job seekers and workers; and Strategies for making informed, confident career decisions.

There is no cost for the event and it is open to everyone, including students, job seekers, individuals currently receiving disability benefits, family members, caregivers, and local service providers.
