National Allied Health Professions Week Celebrated at SCC

Healthcare StudentsAllied health professionals play a crucial role in our health care system, and Sandhills Community College trains students for employment in a myriad of healthcare fields. National Allied Health Professions Week was November 2-6, and the college recognized  students training for allied healthcare careers.
The healthcare curriculum programs offered at Sandhills are Emergency Medical Science, Health and Fitness Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Nurse Aide, Ophthalmic Medical Assistant, Polysomnography, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and Therapeutic Massage.
Continuing Education provides a faster track into healthcare employment with courses in EKG, Geriatric Nurse Aide, Activity Director, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medication Administration Aide, Medication Administration for Adult Care Homes, Mental Health First Aid, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, EMT Basic, and Direct Care.
Spring Semester begins on January 10. New students can apply online by clicking “Apply” at The application is free. After applying, prospective students can then apply for financial aid at, submit transcripts from other institutions, both high school and college, any placement test scores, ACT, or SAT scores (these scores may exempt you from having to take a placement test). Take the placement test (if necessary) and attend orientation. Orientation and class registration for new students will be on January 8.

Registering for Continuing Education classes does not have as many steps. Simply phone 910-695-3980 or visit the Continuing Education offices in Van Dusen Hall. Classes begin throughout the semester.
