The Advanced Manufacturing department at Sandhills Community College offers high-tech, in-demand career training through state-of-the-art equipment designed to meet the growing demand for skilled workers. Through partnerships with local employers, this program aligns class offerings and curriculums to provide employers a pipeline of skilled workers with job-specific skills. These programs do not take an extended period to complete, and many students have employment lined up before graduation. We even offer job placement assistance and career coaching.
“Mechanical Power Transmission Fundamentals Level I” is designed to provide the necessary foundation content to understanding working with mechanical power transmissions. It covers reading blueprints, industrial mathematics to linear motion, drilling speed calculations, and more. Topics are instructor-led with hands-on demonstrations and troubleshooting performed by the student. Upon successful completion, students should be able to identify and apply learning to all fundamental content and demonstrate safe, proper maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
“Mechanical Power Transmission Fundamentals Level I” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 14-Dec. 1 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of text.
“Mechanical Power Transmission Fundamentals Level II” is designed to provide the necessary foundation content to understanding working with mechanical power transmissions. Students will perform and understand safe proper service procedures, tools, proper installing and set-up procedures, and equipment necessary to analyze and repair typical industrial equipment. Emphasis is placed on mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair, including common techniques and procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in the fields listed below.

The SCC Continuing Education team can also customize courses to meet the specific needs of a business or industry, provide resources to assist in developing new training initiatives or help maintain and support current efforts.
