Free SCC Small Business Center Classes in November

The mission of the Small Business Center at Sandhills Community College is to increase the success rate and numbers of viable small businesses in North Carolina by providing high quality, readily accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners leading to job creation and retention.

Social Media: Starting, Maintaining & Growing

Get out of the humdrum existence of your routine business blahs and breathe passion back into what, why and how you do it in “The Persuasive Power of Passion.” Small business owners will learn how to share their passion with the community they serve. Passion is infectious, motivating and turns the ordinary workday into a purpose-driven existence. Rediscover the zest of living on the edge of passion for what you do. Learn the benefits of expressing and rekindling the passion in your day-to-day work and see what that looks like in daily pursuits. Reignite your business spirit with Brian Sykes, owner of AdJourney for over eighteen years, as he demonstrates the persuasive power of passion for entrepreneurs and business owners.

“The Persuasive Power of Passion” will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 2-4 p.m.

As a Small Business Owner, have you found yourself speaking with a customer thinking you were communicating clearly, only to discover a blank stare and complete oblivion on their face? How do we communicate what is so readily understood and easy for us on a level that is clear and concise for our client? Learn the tool-set to pare down our communication to make it clear, effective and understood in “Creative Communication that Connects with Consumers.”

“Creative Communication that Connects with Consumers” will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m.

“Instagram 101: I’ve Got an Account—Now What?” will focus on the look and feel of your business storyboard for brand consistency; your storyline and core messages you want to get across; and which tools to use to maximize this app’s potential.

“Instagram 101: I’ve Got an Account—Now What?” will be held on Thursday, November 8 from 2-4 p.m.

For your Instagram communication strategy, “Instagram 102: My Posts are Neat—How to Make Them Work!” will help you in determining what to say and how to say it; insure that you are creating a conversation, not a monologue; develop a plan for when to post and share, strategize for engaging and cross-sharing to other platforms; and help you spark interest as you develop a following for your business.

“Instagram 102: My Posts are Neat—How to Make Them Work!” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 2-4 p.m.

Project Management

All small business owners have projects that may include creating the company website, establishing an office, or creating a product. As a business matures, you may need to perform risk assessments, apply for a loan or execute a marketing campaign. In “Project Management for Small Business” learn to apply the tools and techniques of Project Management—Stakeholder Analysis, Communication Planning, and Risk Management—to improve business operations and gain a competitive advantage for your business.

“Project Management for Small Business” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m.
