Commercial Learners Permit Prep
This course provides training in inspecting tractor-trailers and assuming driver responsibilities. Emphasis is placed on defensive driving, federal motor carrier safety regulations, vehicle systems, hours of service, and accident prevention. Upon completion, trainees should be able to demonstrate the knowledge to pass the required tests to obtain a class “A” learner’s permit for the commercial driver’s license.

AVIATION
Aviation Instrument Rating
Sandhills Community College has a Precision Flight Control CR-12 Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) that can be used to maintain instrument currency at less than half of the cost of renting an aircraft to get your instrument time. The CR-12 is capable of 26 different aircraft configurations, multiple approach, and cross country IFR scenarios and is a great platform for practicing instrument procedures. Configured with a GARMIN 430 GPS and auto pilot, the AATD can be used to simulate all the maneuvers required for Instrument Currency under the FARs.

FAA Remote Drone Pilot
Prepare for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification exam. Topics include flight theory, flight operations, flight training, national air space, and weather. This class uses the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Remote Pilot-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Study Guide, North Carolina Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operator Permit Knowledge Test Study Guide, and North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division of Aviation UAS flight standards best practices.
