BLET Graduation Ceremonies at SCC
Graduates and guests received a greeting from BLET Director Dave Reece and the Union Pines High School Navy JROTC presented the colors. An invocation and benediction were given by SCC Coordinator of Personal Counseling Services Randal Foster.
Welcoming attendees was Vice President of Academic Affairs Rebecca Roush. Judge James M Webb was the guest speaker. Closing remarks were given by Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development Andrea Korte.
Graduating from the Hoke Center program were: Stephan Anthony Bryan, Randall Martin Distell, Jr. Curtis Eugene Garth, Jr. Caitlin Margaret Kamboures, Sean Thomas Melvin, James Cole Overton, Brent Austin Strickland, and Steven Phipps VanPelt.
Dagoberto Flores, Lonnie Michael Hausler, Ethan William Morrison, Connor Michael O’Brien, Mina Denise Olufs, and Christopher Mackenzie Parsons made up the Pinehurst evening class.
Graduates from the Pinehurst day class were: Benjamin Andrew Bolton, Brenton James Cameron, Tory Alexander Covington, Thomas Justin Hineline, Michael Chavis Norton, Tyler Christian Skjellerup, Thomas Curtis Swist-Smith, Andrew Ray Tyler, and Erick Jerome Wendler.
The BLET Program at SCC
Sandhills offers three-course delivery options for the BLET program. The Pinehurst campus evening program runs from January to July and has classes five to six days a week. A three-month summer program is also held on the Pinehurst campus and runs from May until August with classes five days a week. The Hoke Center program runs August through June, one to two days a week and is designed for detention officers who desire to become dual certified.
The Sandhills BLET program gives students essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county or municipal governments, or with private enterprise.
Students who graduate from SCC BLET program will receive 18 credit hours towards an Associate in Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology. The college is currently accepting applications for the evening class, which begins in January. The deadline for applications is October 15, 2017.
