September Technology Classes at SCC

Whatever your stage in computer use, your classmates will be right there with you in Sandhills Community College Continuing Education Technology Classes. Have fun, make new friends and learn how to use computers and computer software.

QuickBooks

“Quick Books Pro Level 1 Beginner” includes the following topics: Common business accounting terms, introduction to QuickBooks®, creating a new company file, working with lists, establishing your chart of accounts, setting up items, tracking customers and sales, tracking vendors and expenses, reconciling accounts, processing credit card payments, tracking sales orders and more.

“Quick Books Pro Level 1 Beginner” will be held on Thursday, Sept 20 and Friday, Sept 21 from 1-5 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of text.

Windows Operating System

Master the Windows 10 operating system in “Windows 10 Level 1.” Discover Windows applications, terminology, and Start Menu functions as well as operational basics. Students should have access to the Windows 10 operating system.

“Windows 10 Level 1” will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, Sept 17-Oct 25 from 9-11 a.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of text and flash drive.

Apple Macintosh Operating System & iPad

Maximize your productivity using many of the applications found on your iPad in “iPad Basics.” Learn about Contacts, Mail, Messages, Calendar, Camera, as well as Notes, Reminders, Safari, and others. Topics also included are downloading and installing apps from the App Store. Students must bring their iPad or iPhone to class with the latest operating system (iOS) installed.

“iPad Basics” will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept 17-Oct 24 from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $75.

Email

Get more out of Google Searches, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, G+, Hangouts, Maps, and more in the class “Gmail and Google.” The prerequisite for this class is a good working knowledge of using the Internet.

“Gmail and Google” will be held on Fridays, Sept 21-Nov 16 from 9 a.m.-noon. The cost is $75.

Social Media

Put yourself in the driver’s seat of your social media campaign in “Social Media Basics.” Learn the importance of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and more. Explore the potential for growing your business, expanding your customer base, and making more money through social media marketing. Feel free to bring your laptop or iPad to class. Anyone having an interest in expanding his or her social media knowledge is welcome. The prerequisite for this class is a good working knowledge of the Internet.

“Social Media Basics” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept 18-Oct 25 from 10 a.m.-noon. The cost is $75.

Web Design

Get yourself noticed! In “Creating a FREE Website,” set up a free basic website for your business or personal use. Choose from interesting templates and combine personal creativity with pictures, links and content information for a finished, operational basic website. Learn to keep your website up-to-date. The prerequisites for this class are Windows operating system experience and knowledge of using the Internet, a flash drive with pre-loaded pictures for your website and a working email account.

“Creating a FREE Website” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept 18-Oct 25 from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $75.

Photography

Uncover what’s new in Elements 15 in “Photo Editing Using Photoshop Elements 15 Part 1.”. Create catalogs and albums, import and organize photos, perform basic editing in the Organizer, as well as how to use the Editor’s Quick and Guided modes. You will also learn the basics of using layers for combining and correcting photos, and adding text and graphics. A flash drive 8GB or larger is recommended. The prerequisite for this class is a good working knowledge of computers, using a mouse or pen tablet, and file management.

“Photo Editing Using Photoshop Elements 15 Part 1” will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept 17-Oct 24 from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $75.

Registration

Seats are still available for these classes. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Community College Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. You may also register by phone or with a credit card at (910) 695-3980. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until noon.
