Steps to Enrollment in College-Credit Courses
Students Applying for Degree, Diploma or Certificate Programs
STEP 1 – ADMISSION APPLICATION
Apply online or download a paper application and return it via mail or in person. You may also obtain a paper application by contacting the Admissions Office at 910-695-3738 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
STEP 2 – REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS
Request official copies from all previous schools attended. (High School, Adult High School or GED and all Colleges.) Official means we receive the transcript in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing school. Once all college transcripts have been received, they will be evaluated to determine placement test exemption and college credits. Contact the Admissions Office at 910-695-3738 or email email@example.com if you have questions.
STEP 3 – PLACEMENT TEST
Most students who plan to enter an instructional program are required to take the placement test unless deemed exempt. The placement test determines proper English and mathematics placement. Contact Cassidy Benjamin
at 910-246-5366 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
STEP 4 – PRE-ADVISEMENT
After testing, you will meet with a Pre-Advisor in Student Services to discuss your scores and receive your faculty advisor assignment. During most times of the year, you will also register for your first semester classes at this time. If registration is not available, you will be given information about how to register for classes. If you are unable to meet with a Pre-Advisor, a New Student Pre-Advising Packet will be mailed to you. (Your test scores will not be mailed.) Contact Cassidy Benjamin at 910-246-5366 or email email@example.com for questions about pre-advising or your faculty advisor assignment.
STEP 5 – REGISTRATION
Contact your faculty advisor for an appointment to register for classes or participate in one of our New Student Registration Days if you were unable to register after completing the placement test. These dates will be given to you with your Pre-Advising information. You may also refer to the Academic Calendar.
STEP 6 – PAYMENT
The Costs & Payments section of this web site will tell you the various methods by which you can pay for classes. If you fail to pay by the deadline, (see Academic Calendar) your classes will be dropped and you will need to re-register. For questions about payment, contact the Business Office at 910-695-3721 or 910-695-3951.
STEP 7 – FINANCIAL AID (optional, but strongly encouraged)
We encourage all students to apply for financial aid and scholarships. See our Financial Aid pages for instructions.
