Steps to Enrollment in College-Credit Courses
Students Applying for Degree, Diploma or Certificate Programs
STEP 1 – ADMISSION APPLICATION
Apply online or download a paper application and return it via mail or in person. You may also obtain a paper application by contacting the Admissions Office at 910-695-3738 or by emailing email@example.com.
Financial Aid -
We encourage all students to apply for financial aid and scholarships. See our Financial Aid pages for instructions. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov. For assistance, contact our Financial Aid Office at 910-695-3743.
STEP 2 – REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS
Request official copies from all previous schools attended. (High School, Adult High School or GED and all Colleges.) Official means we receive the transcript in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing school. Once all college transcripts have been received, they will be evaluated to determine placement test exemption and college credits. Contact the Admissions Office at 910-695-3738 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
STEP 3 – ORIENTATION
New students are required to attend orientation prior to registering for classes. Orientation will allow you to learn about the college, determine if you need to take the placement test, hear from financial aid representatives, meet your instructors, and discover campus resources. Please refer to your acceptance letter, or the SCC website for the next orientation date.
STEP 4 – PLACEMENT TEST
Most students who plan to enter an instructional program are required to take the placement test unless deemed exempt. The placement test determines proper English and mathematics placement. Contact Kathy Carpenter at 910.695.3733, or email email@example.com if you have questions.
STEP 5 – REGISTRATION
After attending orientation (and taking your placement test, if needed), you can meet with our Student Success advisors to register for your first semester classes. The Student Success staff is available for registration Monday-Friday, from 8am until 430pm.
STEP 6 – PAYMENT
The Costs & Payments section of this web site will tell you the various methods by which you can pay for classes. If you fail to pay by the deadline, (see Academic Calendar) your classes will be dropped and you will need to re-register. For questions about payment, contact the Business Office at 910-695-3721 or 910-695-3951.
