The Public Safety division of Continuing Education at Sandhills Community College
serves the educational and training needs of law enforcement, fire and rescue, and
emergency medical personnel.
Training classes, recertification classes, seminars and programs are offered through this division. Some classes utilize the Larry R. Caddell Public Safety Training Center in Carthage.
CPR for Healthcare Providers |
For healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. CEU: 0.4 |

This class prepares students to provide emergency care for the sick and injured. Students will learn to respond to a variety of emergency medical situations. Upon successful completion, the student can sit for the state certification exam. Course requirements: a copy of your high school or GED diploma by first night of class. Fire Academy |
Train for a career as a firefighter. Free tuition for current volunteer firefighters. Certifications earned in the course are Firefighter I/II, Hazardous Materials Ops, Technical Rescuer, and Emergency Vehicle Driver. The program incorporates EMT-Basic and prepares students to sit for the state certification exam. This certification-related course will present the Technical Rescuer (TR) with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Five (General) and Chapter Six (Ropes) of NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Professional Qualifications.
