Sandhills Community College Continuing Education Technology classes are a great way to have fun and make new friends while learning how to use computers and computer software.

3D Printing

Students will create 3D image files using the Tinker CAD 3D design and printing app and print objects in “Introduction to 3D Printing.” Upon completion, participants will understand the history, terminology, and types of 3D printing technology and demonstrate an ability to create and print a simple project.

“Introduction to 3D Printing” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 4- Feb. 27 from 6-8 p.m., and Saturdays, Feb. 22 and Feb. 29 from 8 a.m.-noon. The cost is $75.

Email and Internet

Students will learn how to use Google Docs, an alternative to Microsoft Office in “Gmail and Google.” Google Maps, Google Earth and many other Google Apps are also included. This class will be held on Fridays, Feb. 7-March 27 from 9 a.m.-noon. The cost is $75.

Students will set themselves apart from the hobbyists and create professional-looking videos in “Videography Basics.” Students do not have to own a camera for this class, but it is helpful. Students will learn how to create wonderful video projects just by using a smartphone, iPad, or point and shoot camera. In this class, we will cover items like b-roll, nat sound, audio, interviewing, camera functions, and editing software. Whether students are capturing a wedding, a commercial project, editorial work, or filming just for fun, this class will take you from beginner to experienced.

“Videography Basics” will be held on Mondays, Feb. 3-March 23 from 6-8 p.m. The cost is $75.
