The Sandhills Community College Continuing Education’s Public Safety department has classes beginning soon in CPR and EMT.

These classes require face-to-face interaction. CDC recommendations and precautions for a safe environment will be stringently followed. The number of students in a classroom has been reduced to allow for distancing and students are required to wear a face/mouth covering when on campus.

Hybrid classes are a combination of online and face-to-face instruction.

“EMT-Success Prep” prepares students for the vocabulary and study skills for success in the EMT-Basic class. This class is designed to help students score higher on the EMT-Basic Entrance Test. “EMT-Success Prep” is not a prerequisite to EMT-Basic. Held on Thursday, Jan. 20 from 6-10 p.m., “CPR for Healthcare Providers” will cost $50 plus a $4 card fee.

Upon successful completion, the student can sit for the state certification exam. Course requirements include a copy of your high school or GED diploma by first night of class. Additional hand sanitizing stations have been installed and a deep cleaning is being carried out each evening using EPA-approved disinfectants and foggers. A campus-wide sanitizing wipe down of door pulls and light switches is carried out twice each weekday and the use of water fountains has been discontinued. Service desk shields have been installed in high traffic areas.
