Personal Enrichment Classes Set to Begin at SCC

GettyImages-483629449.jpgThe Lifelong Learning Institute at Sandhills Community College offers personal enrichment courses designed to expand creativity, sharpen skills, and enhance overall intellectual wellness.
“Golf Mobility Clinic” will teach students how to improve their golf game while developing functional movement skills, increasing the range of motion, enhancing strength and reducing the chance of injury all while boosting recovery time.
“Golf Mobility Clinic” will be held Wednesday, August 9 from 3 – 5 p.m. The cost is $25.
“Financial Fraud and Identity Theft: Protecting Yourself in an Unsecure World” is a new class designed to teach students how to avoid costly mistakes with their secure information, understand the latest Social Security and identity theft schemes fraud, protect their credit report and safeguard their accounts from hackers, viruses, and scams. Current schemes targeted at retirees will also be discussed.
“Financial Fraud and Identity Theft: Protecting Yourself in an Unsecure World” will be hosted by Brianna Perry, a Licensed Financial Advisor specializing in holistic financial planning. This class will be held Thursday, Aug. 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. This class is free but registration is required.
“Financial 101: Back to Basics” is a new four-week workshop that will focus on financial topics that build a baseline understanding of investment and economic terms and definitions. Topics will include, budget and healthy spending, financial planning for the future, college planning, understanding employer sponsored retirement plans, and basic financial instruments. Instructed by licensed Financial Advisor Brianna Perry.
“Financial 101: Back to Basics” will be held on Thursdays, Aug. 24 – Sept. 14 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The cost is $20.
“Fall Book Club” will meet on the third Friday of each month, Aug. 18 – Nov. 17 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Wood Reading Room in Boyd Library. In August, The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas a novel by Gertrude Stein will be discussed. The book club is free but registration is required.
Seats are still available for these classes. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Community College Lifelong Learning Institute office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. You may also register by phone with a credit card at (910) 695-3980. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
