Oregonian to Exhibit Photography in Hastings Gallery

Jaya Thompson

Jaya Thompson, a photographer from Portland, Oregon, will exhibit works March 12 through April 6 in Hastings Gallery in the Boyd Library.
Thompson discovered a passion for photography while traveling as a teenager. He enjoyed seeing the world from different perspectives and in different light. As time went by, he had a growing library of images from further adventures around the world. Until quite recently, his talent for photography was a very personal form of expression and meditation. However, when others saw his imagery, they encouraged him to exhibit his works.
Thompson enjoys sharing the beauty that he sees in the world and works as a photographer in many fields including commissioned art, portraiture, commercial, online, event, and product photography. His personal creative passion is often best expressed in his fine art and abstract photography. Thompson relishes being able to record a subject or scene in a way that conveys its essence, feeling, and vibration: the time or place beyond the appearance.
An opening reception will be on Thursday, March 15 from 3-5 pm. Thompson will hold an Artist’s Talk at 3:30. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 7:45 am- 8 pm, Friday 7:45 am- 4 pm, Saturday 9 am-1 pm and closed on Sunday.
