Think outside of the box (of chocolates) this year for a Valentine's Day gift. Wow that special someone with a culinary class at Sandhills Community College. Spend time together and learn to make something delicious. The macaroons, Mexican wedding cookies, or classic crepes classes are perfect if your honey loves sweets. If that doesn't fit the bill, what about learning to make homemade bread or sushi?

"Macarons" will teach you what it takes to make these delicious French treats. Students will be shown how to make the batter, pipe the Macarons, and then make a filling to pipe in between the finished product for tasting. We will start with a basic vanilla Macaroon and then make a caramel macaroon finishing with an Oreo macaroon. Held on Wednesday, February 8, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

"Breads for the Home Baker" will teach you how to bake like a pro in a home kitchen. Chef Brunner will share soft rolls, focaccia, and Polish-based French bread recipes and explain tricks to achieve great results using basic kitchen equipment. You will learn proper mixing, shaping, and baking techniques along with how to create a preferment for extra flavor in the bread. Held on Friday, February 17, from 3-6 pm, this class will cost $75.

In "Capriotada, Mexican Wedding Cookies, and Polvorones," you will learn how to make Mexican bread pudding. Made with cinnamon, piloncillo, cloves, raisins, bread, and cheese. We will also make Mexican Wedding cookies and Polvorones (Mexican Sugar cookies). Held on Monday, February 20, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

"Classic Crepes" is a hands-on class where you will learn how to make classic crepes properly. Each student will make a savory dish with a delicate vegetable filling plus a sweet dish with a fresh fruit sauce from the crepes you create. Take home recipes to impress your family and friends! Held on Tuesday, February 21, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.

In "Sushi," students will learn tips and techniques for making perfect sushi rice, choosing and prepping ingredients, and finishing with a variety of sauce choices. Take home recipes and skills to make your own creations! Held on Tuesday, February 28, from 5:30-7:30 pm, this class will cost $75.
