New Program at SCC in Aviation

Grad Ad Web FOAn exciting new program will begin at Sandhills Community College fall semester 2018. The Aviation Management and Professional Pilot Technology curriculum will prepare students for a variety of aviation and aviation-related careers.
Coursework will include fundamentals of flight, aerodynamics, aircraft performance, meteorology, navigation, federal regulations, aviation management, and instrument and commercial ground training, flight and simulator training, and entrepreneurship or business management training.
The college will award an Associate in Applied Science in Aviation Management or an Associate in Applied Science in Professional Pilot Technology.
Examples of employment paths can include jobs with commercial airlines, general aviation, the aerospace industry, the military, and state and federal aviation organizations. Graduates can earn a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating, specialize in aviation management, and could find employment as commercial, corporate, and military pilots, fixed base operators and airport managers, or as flight instructors, and flight dispatchers.
Sandhills Community College allows entry points into the program based on prior certifications earned as a hobbyist or through military training.
Fall semester 2018 begins on Wednesday, August 15. New students are encouraged to apply online at and come to the college to discuss an academic plan with an advisor and take class placement tests if necessary. New student orientations are held on various dates and those completing orientation will then register for spring semester classes.
