Help Resources

The MySCC page has various help options for Moodle. At the beginning of most semesters this includes the Help Desk and Drop-In Moodle Help Labs located in Dempsey Student Center. SCC also has year round support available through a ticket system at MySCC Help.

How to Enable Cookies

Internet Explorer 6.x and up

From the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
From the Privacy tab, click Advanced.
To adjust the settings, click the checkbox for Override automatic cookie handling.
Click Accept under First Party Cookies and Third Party Cookies.
Click OK.

 

Firefox 3.x and up

Click on the Tools menu, then click Options.
Click on the Privacy Tab.
Select Use Custom Settings for History from the Firefox Will dropdown.
Check the Accept Cookies from Sites and Accept Third-Party Cookies check boxes.
Save changes by clicking OK.

 

Safari 3.x and up

From the Safari menu, click Preferences

On the Preferences toolbar, click to select Security

From the Security dialog box, under Accept Cookies, click to select Only from sites I navigate to

Click Close in the top left corner of the dialog box.

 

Chrome 6.x and up

Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.

Mac users: If you don’t see the wrench icon, go to the menu bar at the top of your screen and click Chrome.

Select Options (Preferences on a Mac).

Click the Under the Hood tab.

Click Content settings in the Privacy section.

Click the Cookies tab in the Content Settings dialog that appears:

Make sure Allow local data to be set is selected to allow both first-party and third-party cookies. If you only want to accept first-party cookies, select the Block all third-party cookies without exception checkbox.

 

How to Disable Pop-ups

Firefox

  1. Click Firefox and chose Preferences.
  2. Click the Content
  3. Click the Exceptions button and add mrooms3.net to the list of exceptions.
  4. Close the window.

 

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and at the top right click the Menu bar tab.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  4. Under Privacy, click Content settings.
  5. Under Pop-ups, leave Do not allow any site to show pop-ups selected.
  6. Click Manage exceptions and add mrooms3.net to the list of exceptions.
  7. Select Done, Done again and Close the tab.

 

Safari

  1. Click Safari and chose Preferences.
  2. Click the Security
  3. Under Web content, uncheck Block pop-up windows.

 

How to Get Your Navigation Links Back in Moodle

Most navigation in Moodle is done using the Nav Drawer on the left side of your Moodle course.  The following information explains how to view or hide the Nav Drawer.

With the Nav Drawer open you can see your navigation links:

With the Nav Drawer closed you have more space to see your course content on the screen:

To open or close the Nav Drawer, you click on the “hamburger menu” icon at the top-left of Moodle (where the arrow is pointing in the images above).
