Fall Cooking Classes at SCC

The Continuing Education division of Sandhills Community College is happy to have once again cooked up a partnership with the Culinary and Pastry Arts Program to bring the public fun and informative cooking classes.
In “Truffles 101,” Chef Monica Midgette guides you step-by-step to make decadent chocolate truffles to enjoy throughout the holidays and all year long. These also make thoughtful gifts for friends and family. Sample your creations in class and take home a packet of recipes that are easy to modify.
“Truffles 101” will be held Monday, November 6 from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $45.
“Get Your Pie On” will make sure you never purchase a pre-made pie again! Chef Erin Ducker guides you through the process of making four pies, as well as, how to finish them with traditional lattice or streusel topping. Leave this class with the know-how to make delicious home-made pies every time, a recipe packet, and best of all, a pie to share at home.

Thanksgiving may be all about the turkey but as you will learn in “Thanksgiving Sides and Leftovers,” the sides make the meal! Then, with a few simple additions, learn to refashion your leftovers for a completely different, and equally delicious, meal.
“Thanksgiving Sides and Leftovers,” will be offered Tuesday, November 7 from 9 a.m.-Noon. An additional class will be offered on Monday, November 13 from 9 a.m.-Noon. The cost for each is $75.
Continue what you learned in Truffles 101 in “Truffles Part II” by working with molded chocolate truffles, infusing flavors, and making your creations truly one-of-a-kind.  Miss the first class? No worries! Chef Monica Midgette will lead you through this easy and delicious dessert making process while giving you the confidence you need to make these tasty treats at home.
