Billy Barber came to Sandhills 30 years ago to take night classes. A few years later he enrolled as a full-time student and was offered a work-study position in the Engineering Department. After graduating with an associate’s degree, he worked part-time for the college until he came on full-time 24 years ago.
Since that time, Billy has earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UNC-P, and a master’s in IT Digital Communications from ECU.
Billy’s current position is that of the Information Technology Analyst II. He maintains several campus-wide systems that manage the Microsoft patch system, printing system, operating system imaging, and specialized administrative and instructional software, while responding to technical support requests for all desktop hardware and software.
Over the years Billy has taught as a curriculum adjunct instructor and Continuing Education computer classes.
“I love being able to help faculty, staff, and students resolve problems with technology and to keep them on their paths toward success,” said Billy.
“The culture of the SCC work environment is remarkable,” he said. “The administration has cultivated an atmosphere of respect and positivity, which makes all employees want to strive for excellence in every aspect of their jobs.”
Billy likes outdoor activities, hiking, fishing, camping, and gardening, to name a few. He enjoys amusement parks, college and pro football games, contemporary Christian music festivals, and likes to vacation on cruise ships.
He is the husband of Terri and the father of a blended family of five children and five grandchildren.More Posts
