Electrical Classes to Begin at SCC in September

Electrician measurements with multimeter tester System ready.If words like wiring, circuit breaker panels, switches, and fixtures pique your interest, take a look at the electrical classes beginning in September. The Advanced Manufacturing department at Sandhills Community College offers high-tech, in-demand career training through state-of-the-art equipment designed to meet the growing demand for skilled workers. Through partnerships with local employers, this program aligns class offerings and curriculums to provide employers a pipeline of skilled workers with job-specific skills. These programs do not take an extended period to complete, and many students have employment lined up before graduation. We even offer job placement assistance and career coaching.

Using the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum, students will learn the basic theory and practice of the electrical trade in “Electrical Level I.” Offered in partnership with the Sandhills Association of Electrical Contractors, this course is taught by NCCER-certified trainers and overseen by a master NCCER trainer. After successful completion, students are qualified to receive the NCCER Electrician Level 1 Certification, inclusion on the NCCER National Registry for electricians, and entry-level employment.

“Electrical Level I” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 17-April 16 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of text.

“Electrical Level II” builds upon the concepts and skills acquired in the NCCER Electrical Level I course. Successful completion qualifies students to receive the NCCER Electrician Level II Certification and inclusion on the NCCER National Registry for Electricians. The prerequisite for this class is successful completion of NCCER Electrical Level I.

Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
