Culinary Classes to Begin at SCC in December

Close up of hand cooking over a stove.Take a cooking class and impress your friends and family with your new culinary expertise. The Continuing Education’s Center for Creative Living department at Sandhills Community College is offering several culinary classes starting in December.

Students will learn how to make a basic truffle, concentrating on the many ways to decorate them in “Advanced Truffles.” This class also includes dipping in tempered chocolate and piping. “Advanced Truffles” will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $75.

In “Soups” students will discover how to create soups from scratch, including chicken gnocchi soup and cream of mushroom soup. This class will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $75.

In “Cocktail Party hors d’oeuvres,” students will learn how to create a platter of hors d’oeuvres to impress guests and leaving time to entertain. This class will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 5-8 p.m. Another class will be offered on Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $75.

Seats are still available for these classes. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Community College Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. Registration by phone at (910) 695-3980 or preregistration online at www.sandhills.edu/cereg are also available accepting all major credit cards. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
