Health Care Occupations
“Mental Health First Aid” USA is an 8-hour certification training to teach participants how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it helps trainees identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
“Mental Health First Aid” will be held Tuesday, Oct 23 and Thursday, Oct 25 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The cost is $75.
Successful completion of “Auto Safety Inspection” certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. The prerequisite for this class is a valid driver’s license.
“Auto Safety Inspection” will be held on Monday, Oct 8 and Tuesday, Oct 9 from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
“OBD Emissions Control Inspection” certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. The prerequisite for this class is “Certified Auto Safety Inspection.” This is also the Recertification class.
“OBD Emissions Control Inspection” will be held on Monday, Oct 15 and Tuesday, Oct 16 from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
“Vehicle Dealers’ Continuing Education” is required of all non-franchise vehicle dealers in NC, this course includes updates of NC general statutes and DMV policies and procedures.

“Bank Teller Training” is designed for those interested in becoming a bank teller. Topics include an introduction to banking operations, handling cash, balancing operations, customer relations, and security procedures.
“Bank Teller Training” will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct 9-Nov 15 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $130 plus the cost of the text.
Learn how to enhance your drone photography in “Drones for Realtors.” Drone photos have become an industry standard for real estate agents, but finding a drone pilot can be hard and expensive. Skip the high costs and inconvenience of trying to find a drone photographer, and post your listings faster by becoming your own drone photographer. This course teaches the secrets to drone real estate photos to take your listing to all new heights. Taught by an FAA-certified drone pilot.
“Drones for Realtors” will be held on Tuesday, Oct 2 from 2-5 p.m. The cost is $20.
“Photography for me is a passion, a mixture of science and art that creates magic.” -Scott MacQuarrie. Creating magic requires tools to bring the vision of the artist to life, and “Drones for Photography” explores one of the newest and most disruptive tools photographers use today: drones. Spend an afternoon exploring how you can begin using drones to take your skills to the next level. During this course, students will explore using LUTs (lookup tables), neutral density filters, strategic use of sunlight and time of day, and get hands-on with an entry-level 4K drone. This class promises to be an interactive, engaging afternoon for the techie and artist in every photographer, amateur or professional.
“Drones for Photography” will be held on Tuesday, Oct 16 from 2-5 p.m. The cost is $20.
A “notary public” is officially authorized to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.
“Notary Public” will be held on Tuesday, Oct 16 and Thursday, Oct 18 from 5:45-9:15 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of text.
Hospitality & Food Service
In “ServSafe® Food Safety and Sanitation” learn the basics of food handling safety and facility sanitation requirements. This course is recommended for all food service facilities, including supervisory personnel, culinary professionals, and food service staff.
“ServSafe® Food Safety and Sanitation” will be held on Oct 15, 16, 22 and 23 from 5:30-9 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of the text.

The Sandhills Community College Continuing Education team can customize courses to meet the specific needs of a business or industry, provide resources to assist in developing new training initiatives or to maintain and support current efforts. Courses can be held at convenient times for you and your staff at any SCC location, your business, or other convenient locations.
