Health Care Occupations
“Central Sterile Processing” introduces the primary responsibilities of a central sterile technician. Learn practical applications of concepts and procedures. Topics include preparation, storage, distribution of instruments, supplies and equipment, quality assurance and inventory management. Upon completion, students will be able to apply the principles of sterilization/disinfection in the workplace, as well as the principles of distribution of instruments/supplies.
“Central Sterile Processing” will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug 20-Dec 12 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of the text.
“EKG Technician” will teach you the required skills to become a certified EKG Technician and work in a variety of healthcare settings. Topics include cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac cycle, EKG strip analysis, 12 lead EKG, and EKG procedures.
“EKG Technician” will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug 20-Dec 12 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of the text.
“Nurse Aide, Level 1” state-certified program prepares students for work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals in performing hands-on patient care. Prepare for the State Board examination for NC NA Registry listing. Contact Jenell Powell at 695-3965 for program information.
“Nurse Aide, Level 1” will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug 15-Dec 12 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., with lab 2-4 p.m., and clinical 7:30 a.m-1:30 p.m. The cost of the class is $205.50 plus the cost of the course pack and enrollment approval.
“Pharmacy Technician” is designed to prepare students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and for entry-level employment. Topics include technical procedures for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, packaging and labeling, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, pharmacy calculations, and over-the-counter drugs. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a community pharmacy setting.

In “Phlebotomy Technician & Clinical Rotation” learn skills necessary to draw blood specimens in various healthcare settings and blood donation centers. Topics include venipuncture, specimen handling, record-keeping, and the healthcare profession. A Work Keys Reading for Information test, drug screening, background check, and current immunizations are required for registration. “Phlebotomy Technician & Clinical Rotation” will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., Aug 16-Dec 13, with clinical 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The cost is $205.50 plus the cost of the text.
Successful completion of “Auto Safety Inspection” certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. Prerequisite: valid driver’s license.
“Auto Safety Inspection” will be held Aug 13 and Aug 14, Monday and Tuesday from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
“OBD Emissions Control Inspection” certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. Prerequisite: Certified Auto Safety Inspection. This is also the Recertification class.

Whether you are considering starting a business or growing your business with the help of drones, “Drones for Commercial Use” allows you to explore the opportunities available to you. The short course includes a brief flight demonstration, an overview on drone selection and purchasing a drone based on your needs.
“Drones for Commercial Use” will be held Tuesday Aug 28, from 2-5 p.m. The cost is $20.00
A “Notary Public” is officially authorized to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.
“Notary Public” will be held Aug 21 and Aug 23, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-9 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of text.
Instruction in “Framing” is related to framing in residential settings. Emphasis is placed on safety, use of power and hand tools, selecting, measuring and preparing framing lumber, and the assembly of wall, floor and roof framing systems.
“Framing” will be held Aug 20-Jan 26 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of the text.
