University Studies C-STEP

Sandhills Community College has joined with UNC-Chapel Hill in their C-STEP initiative, the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program, starting fall 2012.  This rigorous program allows more of our graduates to transfer to and graduate from Carolina.  The number of students in this program is small, since the monies that support the program come from Jack Kent Cooke Foundation monies.

Students accepted into C-STEP must spend two years in C-STEP at Sandhills.‚  Consequently, students must apply prior to or during their first semester at Sandhills, and be accepted into the program either prior to or during their first semester at SCC.

C-STEP participants must be low-to-moderate income high achievers and earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree from SCC within five semesters, graduate with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, complete three semesters of a foreign language, and make monthly C-STEP meetings, both at SCC and at Carolina.

When participating students complete C-STEP, they are guaranteed admission to UNC-Chapel Hill.  Once they have enrolled at Carolina, they are provided with transition and support services while pursuing their bachelor degrees.

For further information about C-STEP, please contact Professor Matthew Dial, C-STEP Coordinator at dialm@sandhills.edu or go to UNC-Chapel Hill C-STEP and read about this opportunity, along with application deadlines for admission into the program.
