The Board of Trustees of Sandhills Community College will be established and maintained in accordance with State of North Carolina directives as established, reviewed, and revised by legislative and state agencies. The Board of Trustees adheres to the NC State Board of Community College code and the SCC Board of Trustees bylaws related to State Government Ethics Act (e.g., conflict of interest) and the guidelines established in Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOS) Principles of Accreditation “Section 4.” 

The Board of Trustees of Sandhills Community College consists of fourteen members. Thirteen are appointed to four-year terms. Four are appointed by the Governor, four by the Moore County Board of Commissioners, four by the Moore County Board of Education, and one by the Hoke County Board of Commissioners. The fourteenth member is the president of the Student Government Association who serves as a non-voting member during his/her one-year occupancy of that office.  The Board of Trustees recognizes its ability to remove trustees only in instances as described in Article I, Section 4 of the SCC Board of Trustees Bylaws. 

Trustee standing committees include the Buildings and Grounds Committee, Education Programs Committee, Finance Committee, Planning Committee, Student Affairs Committee, and Personnel Committee. The Chair of the Board is an ex officio member of all Board committees.
