Associate in Fine Arts in Art (A10200)

The Associate in Fine Arts in Art degree is designed to prepare students to transfer to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program at a senior college or university. Students will receive a foundation in color, design, drawing and fundamentals of studio techniques. They should be able to present a portfolio of work that is strong enough to allow them to continue their work as juniors and begin an area of concentration at the senior transfer institution.

General Education Core (28 Semester Hours Credit)
The General Education Core includes study in the areas of humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, and English composition. Within the core, students receive opportunities to achieve competence in reading, writing, communicating, demonstrating mathematical skills, understanding science concepts, and using computers.

English Composition (6 SHC)

Humanities/Fine Arts (6 SHC)
Select two courses from two of the following discipline areas. At least one course must be a literature course.

Social/Behavioral Sciences (9 SHC)
Select three courses from three of the following discipline areas. At least one course must be a history course.

Natural Sciences (4 SHC)
Select one course, including accompanying laboratory work, from among the following biological and physical science disciplines.

Mathematics (3 SHC)
Select one course in introductory mathematics.

OTHER REQUIRED HOURS (37 SEMESTER HOURS CREDIT)
Art majors must take ART 121 before they can take any other studio course except ART 131.
