The student activities
program at SCC is sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA). Members of the SGA make a concerted effort to
provide students with cultural, social, recreational, and service–oriented
activities. Activities sponsored by the
SGA include free food days, the annual Spring Fling, holiday festivities, coffee
and doughnuts during exams, student accident insurance, and scholarships and
awards.
The SGA is always
looking for new ideas and new “ambassadors” (this is what we call you once you
join). All it takes is completion of a
simple, two–page application, at least a 2.0 GPA, a little time (at least two
hours per week), enthusiasm, and a lot of motivation. Please keep in mind that every student on
campus is a member of SGA. We are your voice at SCC. Not only do we handle the fun events and
activities, but we also present your comments and concerns to the
administration and the Board of Trustees (the SGA president is a trustee!). This means that we need your input and
suggestions to accomplish the things that you want done.
The SGA office is
located in Dempsey Hall (upstairs) and we encourage you to come by anytime and
find out what we can do for you!
