Financial Aid - Distance Learning |
This section applies to students taking only distance learning courses. Students who are attending any classes that are physically being held on campus should contact the financial aid office at (910) 695-3743 for instructions on how to apply for financial aid. Applying for financial aid
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Applications are available over the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov or call 1-800-433-3243 to request paper form.
- If you have questions regarding the application or for more information you can look on the internet at www.ed.gov/studentaid. You can also contact the SCC financial aid office at (910) 695-3743.
You must enter our school code (002961) on the application.
-
You must complete the application to the college
- No student can be awarded financial aid until he/she is an admitted student in a qualified degree-seeking program.
- Applications to the college can be completed by following the steps to Enrollment link located on our website at www.sandhills.edu.
-
You must respond to all correspondence from the Financial Aid and Admissions Office in a timely manner. Additional documentation is sometimes required to complete the financial aid process.
-
You will receive an award letter upon completion of your Financial aid file. This letter will be mailed approximately two weeks after the official results of the FAFSA are received for all admitted students in a qualified program.
-
The government randomly chooses thirty percent (30%) of students applying for financial aid for a process called verification. If you are selected, you will receive a letter from our office requesting additional documentation.
-
Official high school or GED and college transcript are required before any financial aid will be disbursed.
-
If you are pre-registered and decide not to attend SCC, you must officially drop your classes and notify the Financial Aid Office prior to the start of each semester. If your class schedule has not been dropped and we have not received notification, your classes will automatically be paid for with Financial Aid and you will be responsible for the funds used.
-
Remaining financial aid funds will be disbursed each semester after the Financial Aid office verifies the students attendance through faculty rosters. A refund will not be processed until all instructors have notified the financial aid office confirming class participation. For participation verification received after the initial due date, Pell refunds will begin using attendance verification sheets two weeks after the second disbursement of Financial Aid refund checks.
-
If you are interested in applying for other available aid such as Veteran Benefits, or Scholarships, please read instructions under the appropriate section of this website.
