Emergency Notification

AlertNow Emergency Notification

Keeping you safe and informed is a top priority at Sandhills Community College.  That is why we have adopted the AlertNow Rapid Communication Service which will allow us to send telephone, text and email messages alerting you of emergency situations that may threaten the collegial environment.

All curriculum students, faculty and staff are enrolled in this service, at no cost, based upon the information on record with Sandhills Community College.  However, the successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information (i.e. home phone number, cell phone number, e-mail address) for each participant.  Therefore, please be certain that you provide us with your most current contact information.  In addition, if your information changes at any time during the year please stop by the Admissions Office in Student Services, immediately, and complete the appropriate forms to update your record(Faculty and staff should update their information with the Office of Human Resources.)

The following is what you need to know about receiving calls through AlertNow:

  • Caller ID will display the school’s main number when a message is delivered.
  • Text Messages will display AlertNow message before the message content.
  • Caller ID will display 411 if the message is a dire emergency.
  • AlertNow will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.
  • If the message stops playing, press any key (1-9) and the message will replay from the beginning.

It is important you understand that in the event of an emergency and upon activation of the system, you will receive notification at any and all of the contact numbers that you provide.  Periodic testing of the system may be conducted over the course of your association with the college.  However, your personal information will not be used for any other purpose(s) and will not be disseminated by activating this system.
