Late Friday afternoon, 2 October 2009, a student reported their Honda moped scooter had been stolen from the bicycle rack located behind the library book return box. Video surveillance of the area provided us with a vehicle of interest in this case. The vehicle is a silver or white in color four door open bed pick-up with solid black tires. If you see a vehicle matching this description, we ask that you notify campus security by dialing “0” from any campus phone or (910) 692-6185.
Although vehicle theft on our campus is rare, we are reminded that it can occur. Faculty, staff and students are asked to exercise safety precautions while on campus. When parked on campus remember to lock your doors, remove your keys and place valuables out of sight.
Remember also that campus offices should be locked when not occupied. Personal belongings, such as purses and other valuable items, should be locked in a file cabinet or desk. Also, while on campus, be aware of your surroundings. Any time you see anything suspicious; report it to campus security immediately.
The security staff is committed to assisting you. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. |
