Steps to Enrollment
We are excited you are interested in attending Sandhills Community College. We believe Sandhills is a special place – a place especially for you. Our personal concern for you as an individual student, the affordable tuition, and the quality of education are hard to beat! You will feel the Sandhills difference the moment you arrive on campus.
- Complete an SCC Application for Admission online. If you have any questions, contact the Admissions Office at 910.695.3725.
- Have your official transcripts (high school or GED, and any previous colleges attended) sent to the Admissions Office. You may use the high school and college (PDF) transcript request forms. Transcripts must be sent from the originating institution to be accepted as official documents.
- Take the placement test. The college placement test, Accuplacer, is offered on a walk-in basis at the Learning Resource Center (LRC), located in Boyd Library. A testing ticket, issued by the Admissions Office, photo identification, and a $7.00 test fee are required. If you have any questions, please contact the Testing Office at 910.695.3733.
Possible exemptions to taking the placement test:
- Transfer credits for relevant classes accepted by the Director of Records & Registration
- SAT I: Writing 500, Critical Reading 500, Math 500
- ACT: Verbal 21, Math 21, Reading 21
Official test scores must be less than 5 years old.
After testing, students are encouraged to see a Pre-Advisor in Student Services to discuss test scores and to learn more about Sandhills. You will also receive your advisor information and learn how to register for classes. If you are unable to see a Pre-Advisor, a New Student Pre-Advising Packet with your advisor information will be mailed to you. (Your test scores will not be mailed.)
- Register for classes at New Student Registration Days – The dates and times for New Student Registration will be given to you with your New Student Pre-Advising information. We encourage you to see your advisor on one of these days to plan your course schedule and register for classes. (No appointment is necessary.) If you are unable to take advantage of one of these dates, you may set up an appointment by contacting your advisor.
- If you have questions about paying for your education, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 910.695.3743. To apply for federal financial aid, you may apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
