Steps to Enrollment

For admission to degree, diploma, and certificate programs, just follow the step-by-step checklist on this page. If you are interested in taking non- credit classes developed to help with professional or personal interest, refer to the Department of Continuing Education.

Steps to Enrollment

We are pleased you are interested in attending Sandhills and hope you will choose to come here. We believe Sandhills is a special place – a place especially for you. Our personal concern for you as an individual student, the affordable tuition, and the quality of education are hard to beat! You will feel the Sandhills difference the moment you arrive on campus.

1. Complete and mail the SCC Application for Admission(PDF) to the Admissions Office at 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or fax it to (910) 695-3981. You may also apply on-line and transmit your application electronically. If you have any questions, contact the Admissions Office at 910.695.3725.

2. Have your official transcripts (high school or GED, and any previous colleges attended) sent to the Admissions Office. You may use the high school and college(PDF) transcript request forms. Transcripts must be sent from the originating institution to be accepted as official documents.

3. Take the placement test. The college placement test, Accuplacer, is offered on a walk-in basis at the Learning Resource Center (LRC), located in Boyd Library. A testing ticket, issued by the Admissions Office, photo identification, and a $7.00 test fee are required. If you have any questions, please contact the Testing Office at 910.695.3733.

Possible exemptions to taking the placement test:

  • Transfer credits for relevant classes accepted by the Director of Records & Registration
  • SAT I: Writing 500, Critical Reading 500, Math 500
  • ACT: Verbal 21, Math 21, Reading 21


  • Official test scores must be less than 5 years old. 

    4. Attend a New Student Orientation where you will meet with your advisor and register for classes. This date will be given to you when you complete your placement test or when you have been officially exempted from testing.

    5. If you have questions about paying for your education, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 910.695.3743. To apply for federal financial aid, you may apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
