Graduation Information - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When will I receive my diploma?
A.   All diplomas will be mailed approximately 4-6 weeks after commencement activities. For those who complete final classes in the summer and fall terms, diplomas will be mailed approximately 4-6 weeks after all grades are received.
 
Q. Must I submit a Graduation Application if I do not plan to walk across the stage?
A.  Yes. You must submit a graduation application to the Office of Records & Registration even if you do not intend to participate in the graduation ceremony.
 
Q. Must I wear a SCC cap and gown in order to participate in the spring ceremony?
A.  Yes. Official SCC regalia are required for participation in the commencement ceremony.
 
Q. How many ceremonies do you have each year?
A.  Sandhills Community College has one graduation ceremony per academic year.
 
Q. When is graduation/commencement this year?
A.  Saturday, May 17, 2014.
 
Q. When does this graduation application expire?
A.  Students are required to complete all necessary coursework by the end of the summer term. If all classes are not completed by the end of Summer 2014, you will need to re-apply for graduation by completing a new application during the Fall 2014 semester.

If you return to pursue another degree/diploma/certificate after graduating, you will need to submit a new admissions application.
 
Q. When must my courses be completed?
A. 

For Fall 2013 graduates, courses must be completed by December 17, 2013. December completers may participate in the graduation ceremony held in May.
For Spring 2014 graduates, courses must be completed by May 13, 2014.
For Summer 2014 graduates, courses must be completed by July 31, 2014. July completers may participate in the graduation ceremony held in May.
