Programs & Majors
If you want to become a nurse, a chef, an x-ray technician, an automotive technician, or to pursue a career in one of our other fine technical programs, Sandhills Community College is the best and obvious choice.
On the other hand, if you ultimately seek a bachelor’s degree or plan to do graduate work, Sandhills is still an excellent option. Any student who graduates from our University Studies program and is accepted to any one of the sixteen schools in the UNC System will be guaranteed that credits earned with a grade of “C” or better will transfer to the university. Furthermore, Sandhills has an excellent track record of getting our best transfer graduates accepted at UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. Places of higher learning that are often out of reach for high school seniors – maybe because SAT scores or class rank aren’t what they should be – are within reach for Sandhills Community College University Studies graduates.
If you are unsure which program or field you would like to pursue, we encourage you to visit Counseling and Career Services. You can receive career advisement and utilize assessments to help you decide upon a field of study.
We ask that you declare a major upon applying at Sandhills. You can change your major by visiting the Advising Center in Stone Hall.
