Health Sciences Admission Information

To Health Science Applicants:

Thank you for your interest in the Sandhills Community College health science programs. We have a selective admissions process, so we no longer maintain a waitlist. Program selection begins each fall for the next year. We have many programs for select. You have an opportunity to be placed into any of the programs listed, but Emergency Medical Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Ophthalmic Medical Assistant, Polysomnography, Respiratory Therapy, and  Surgical Technology have fewer applicants than nursing PTA, and Radiology each year. In fact, your chances of entering other six programs are greater than ever provided you qualify.  Please contact our health science advisor, Sue Senior, for questions if you are undecided among those listed. Applications must be submitted no later than the last Friday in the month of January for early consideration. The late deadline is the last Friday in April if seats are still available. To gain acceptance to the program, it is extremely important that you, the student, carefully read and follow all program entry requirements.

All students applying to any Health Science program are required to take the HESI A2 Admissions Assessment exam. Eligibility to take the HESI A2 exam will require placement into ENG 111, placement out of MAT 060 & MAT 070 (or corresponding DMA modules), and you must also have your declared major as one of the six programs listed under the health science department. Study guides for the HESI A2 Admissions Assessment exam are available in the Sandhills bookstore and Boyd Library.

Students must register for the HESI A2 exam by contacting Shannon Hudson, Stone Hall 128A or Cassidy Benjamin, Stone 128D.The HESI A2 exam schedule will be published each fall and spring. Students will be required to pay a $32.00 testing fee and show a photo ID on the day of the exam.
