We are gearing up for another great semester at Sandhills, and we want to make your online experience a successful one.  The college uses Blackboard to deliver online and hybrid courses.  This page contains important information regarding your online course and the Blackboard system.

Orientations
Some online courses have required orientations or advanced activities that must be completed.  If you can not meet the orientation requirements please contact your instructor.  (Full time faculty directory / Part time faculty directory)

You will not be able to log in to your Fall 2009 Blackboard course until the first day of the semester (Aug 17, 2009).  If you are required to meet with your instructor for orientation, your instructor will probably not make your course available until after that date.  To log in on or after the first day of the semester you will need your user name and password.

All users will be required to reset their login information Fall semester 2009.  If you used Blackboard in Spring or Summer 2009 you MUST follow the procedure below (as if you were a new user) to reset your information.

If you have never used Blackboard:
You will not be able to retrieve your username and password until the first day of class (Aug 17, 2009). To retrieve the information navigate to the Sandhills home page (www.sandhills.edu) and click on Blackboard login under the Quick Links box.  The New Students section of the next screen will allow you to get your username and to set your password.  You must have your student number to get this information.  Student numbers can be found on your printed schedule.

Attendance Requirements
It is mandatory that you log in to your course within the first 5 days of the semester and complete the Icebreaker Assignment or contact your instructor.  By completing assignments and logging in, you are demonstrating your attendance in your online course.  Students who do not log in will be marked as “Never Attended” and will be removed from the course.  This drop may affect your financial aid and your ability to register for classes in the future.

Remember, if circumstances prevent you from completing your online course, you must follow the normal course withdrawal procedures, which include obtaining your advisor’s approval.  Failure to do so may result in an “F” for the course.  Your advisor or the Advising Center can assist you if you need to drop a course.

Help Resources
If you need help with your online course, please click the support tab in Blackboard or the question mark icon at the top of the Blackboard screen.  Help links are also available on the login screen.  A toll free support line (1-866-827-9055) is available 24/7 to assist you.   SCC also has local support available by emailing bbsupport@sandhills.edu
