Classes to Begin at the Hoke Center in February

The Continuing Education Career Training program at the Sandhills Hoke campus is a perfect local resource for adult learners who want to improve workplace skills, achieve job certification or recertification, improve employment marketability or explore new opportunities.

For those wishing to enter the medical field, “Medication Administration Aide” is designed to meet training requirements for the NC Board of Nursing Medication Aide Certification. The training prepares Nurse Aides to administer medications to skilled nursing facility residents. Course topics include scope of duties, legal and ethical responsibilities, administration of medications by various routes, infection control and documentation including commonly used abbreviations. “Medication Administration Aide” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, Friday, Feb. 15, Thursday, Feb. 21 and Friday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of the text.

For those who would like to work in Advanced Manufacturing, “Mechatronics Level I” will teach the fundamentals of industrial systems automated technology and prepares students to understand, develop, and troubleshoot automated industrial production systems. Students will learn the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical systems, electronics including programmable logic control systems, line integration and operations, electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, control systems and elements such as servos and sensors, and basic industrial computer systems and operations. Students will develop skills in each area by hands-on practice on relevant training platforms and design, implement, and troubleshoot integrated automated systems using a comprehensive, sophisticated industrial system platform. The prerequisites for this class are “MPTF” or “Electronics’” or “Basic PLC Programming.”

“Mechatronics Level I” will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 18-Sept. 18 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of the text.

Seats are still available for this class. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Hoke Center at 1110 E. Central Drive in Raeford. You can also register by phone at (910) 695-3980. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon.
